A camping tent is the ideal shelter for families that like to go hiking, biking, and fishing. Tents can be small enough to carry or so large that they require more than one person to carry them.

Sometimes, choosing a tent is difficult because of the many variations. Most of the time, the room of a tent is determined by the number of people that can be in there. The three basic types of tents available for campers are:

* Ridge Tents - This was the original tent when they were invented. Like the name, there are separate ridges on both sides that slope down far and are flush with the ground. These are probably the most simplest to erect. They typically hold 1-3 people and are very easy carry. These tents are built with two poles on either side and a rope between them to keep it upright.

* Frame Tent - This kind is the hugest of tents used for larger groups of campers and families. These tents are erected with a bunch of crisscross poles that erect the tent and provide a frame for the fabric. The tent fabric is then fastened to the crisscrossed poles to complete the shelter. Then, pins and ropes are added to further fortify the structure.

* Dome Tents - Dome tents are the most well-known tents today. Like the name, they consist of a dome on the top that helps water to drain down; the dome provide the slope for things to easily slide from the roof of the fabric so the top is not caved in. These tents are short so you typically cannot walk around inside. However, they are very easy to carry and quick and easy to erect.

When planning a camping trip, you should make sure you are prepared. Lacking the right equipment can lead to a horrible time out there in nature. Furthermore, not having adequate can be hazardous depending on where you decide to go. Also, you have to determine how many people are coming along. Tents typically display how many people can fit in them and it is essential to get one with enough room. Camping is supposed to be fun - make sure you are prepared to make sure you have the best time possible.
