If you like to look after kids in your spare time why don’t you think about approaching the summer camps and seeing if there are any jobs that you can apply for! This is a good way to help out and earn a little extra money on the side.

Many of the summer camps would prefer it if you had previous experience of counseling kids. You will also be looked on favorably if you have had any previous experience of other summer camps too.

There are however jobs at these camps providing you are 18 or over. You must either have a work visa or be a U.S. citizen. But some of the camps have in the past used foreign exchange students to help out.

The role of camp counselors is not to be taken lightly. You will inevitably be a role model to the students and should be on hand in case they have any issues or problems. You will also be required to help motivate them when learning new skills. There may be times when some of the camps students need extra care such as help with their feeding or other such things.

For those that have an outgoing personality and absolutely love the outdoors there are often facilitator jobs at these camps. You would be there to teach the students all about hiking, swimming and many other pursuits that are available at these summer camps.

Other jobs that may be available at these summer camps include support staff, Nurses, lifeguards, adventure leaders and many more.

As long as you are patient and love to work with children then there is every possibility that there is a job at these summer camp just waiting for you.

As a camp facilitator and counselor you could potentially be earning around $180 to $200 weekly. You will also normally get free board and lodgings. This could be an enjoyable and beneficial summer job for you.

Do you like to go camping? A lot of people do, especially those under forty or those with kids. I am not convinced that it is more male orientated than female, but it is a close call. It could be.

When you go camping, there will usually be a lot of preparation done in advance and provisions and equipment will be bought and laid out in readiness for the great trek, whether you drive to the hiking starting point or walk there from your front door. You will have a backpack, of course, food, clothing, a tent, sleeping bags or blankets and every other little thing you need, but will you take a camping chair?

Yes, you could sit on a fallen tree trunk or a log around the camp fire to talk and do your cooking. You could even sit on the soil or on a blanket, but have you ever stopped to think how heavy a canvas and aluminium framed camping chair really is? It weighs a pound or two and can hang off the outside of your rucksack or knapsack.

A camping chair can hugely enhance your camping holiday, whether you are going to a camping site or just wandering in nature, but probably even more so in the latter situation. If it is raining or has recently rained, logs, rocks and the ground will be damp. If there are lots of ants about, you will not want to sit on the ground anyway.

What about bugs and other creepy-crawlies? Or snakes even? The fact is that a camping chair does not take up much space, does not weigh much, but can deliver a lot of comfort.

Of course, the more complex the camping chair, the heavier it will be, but you not have to have much to feel good after a long trek, particularly if the weather was bad. A stool is better than nothing, but I would want something with a back to it; something like a canvas director’s chair the same as you see in movies.

Your camping chair can double as a table, if the weather is fine and you have other places to sit down. If you serve your food on your camping chair you will have fewer problems with ants and other insects. However, the best reason for taking a folding camping chair with you on a camping holiday, is the luxury of being able to take your boots off and lean back in your camping chair with your feet up after you have made camp. It may not be macho, but I like it.
